Applications
CNC machine guarding
Perimeter guarding for machine tools and robotic machine tending, with polycarbonate panels where chips and coolant must be contained.
CNC Machine Guarding
Contain chips and coolant, keep access easy.
Machine tools are guarded by their own enclosures, but robotic machine tending, bar feeders and automated part handling create new hazards around them. A perimeter around the tending cell keeps people out of the robot's reach, polycarbonate panels contain chips and coolant while keeping the process visible, and an interlocked operator station handles loading.
What we configure
- Perimeter for machine tending robots
- Polycarbonate panels near spindles and chip zones
- Interlocked operator doors
- Access for tool changes and maintenance
Plan for
- Chip conveyors and coolant
- Pallet or drawer loading stations
- Maintenance access to the machine tool

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why use polycarbonate around CNC machines?
Polycarbonate contains chips, coolant mist and small parts while operators can still see the process, and with no openings it can stand closer to the hazard than mesh.
Does a machine tending robot need a fence?
Unless the risk assessment shows a collaborative application is acceptable, the robot's reach is guarded with a perimeter and interlocked access, as for any robot cell.
How do operators load parts?
Through a drawer, pallet station or interlocked door positioned so the operator never shares space with the moving robot.
